Don't Miss the Original Series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan Starring John Krasinski!Tom Clancy delivers a #1 New York Times bestselling Jack Ryan novel that will remind readers why he is the acknowledged master of international intrigue and nonstop military action.
It is The Campus. Secretly created under the administration of President Jack Ryan, its sole purpose is to eliminate terrorists and those who protect them. Officially, it has no connection to the American government—a necessity in a time when those in power consider themselves above such arcane ideals as loyalty, justice, and right or wrong.
Now covert intelligence expert Jack Ryan Jr. and his compatriots at The Campus—joined by black ops warriors John Clark and “Ding” Chavez—have come up against their greatest foe: a sadistic killer known as the Emir. Mastermind of countless horrific attacks, the Emir has eluded capture by every law enforcement agency in the world. But his greatest devastation is yet to be unleashed as he plans a monumental strike at the heart of America.
On the trail of the Emir, Jack Ryan Jr. will find himself following in his legendary father’s footsteps on a manhunt that will take him and his allies across the globe, into the shadowy arenas of political gamesmanship, and back onto U.S. soil in a race to prevent the possible fall of the West....

Wow!
This is the second Clancy book I've read and all I can say is wow, he grabs you, hooks you and then plays your emotions like a violin. I shed a tear at the "death", almost like I had skin in the game. Great book, great read!

Great book but a little bit long thought. Good to see key characters back such as: John Clark and Ding Chavez.

Wasn't boring
Certainly helped pass the time. But I would never recommend it to anyone. I was also weirded out about torture stuff.

Great plot, but cumbersome writing style
Clancy lovers beware, the narrative and writing style of the co-author is mind numbingly cumbersome. His style almost ruins a good plot.

I always like reading Tom Clancy's books. Its written so you are in the middle of what is happening. Wish he would come out with some other Net Force books. Keep writing and i will keep reading.

Definitely not a Clancy book
Oh, Tom Clancy... What happened to you? You used to be such an amazing author, but your stuff has become nigh unreadable. See exhibit A: "He reached the corner and stopped, weapon held in the Weaver stance double-handed grip, barrel pointed downward. Not like Hollywood or cop TV shows, he thought, where they carried the gun pointed barrel-up beside their faces. Sure, it looked cool... but this wasn't about cool, this was about staying alive and putting down the bad guys." Seriously, did you have a stroke? Sigh... At least we'll always have "The Hunt For Red October" and "Without Remorse," Tom.

Awful
So disappointing - to have Clancy's name in such big letters only to have it written by someone else - storyline is okay, but poorly told, predictable, and without the research and technical details that make true Clancy work so compelling. If you see a Clancy book with someone else's name on the cover as well, be warned, you are not getting Clancy.

Well written but predictable
I had taken a break from Mr. Clancy's books for a while but came back to read his latest. As expected, it was very well written, very detailed and full of action. The plot was relevant, interesting but predictable. Despite some hard "sacrifices" along the way, we inevitably arrive at a happy ending. The world is saved again, the bad guys are out of commission; fit for (another) Hollywood movie. There is also a very pronounced undertone on the political side. The current administration is inept (and an unlikely winner of the past elections). It is only due to the actions taken by the last administration that we may now close the chapter on one of the most notorious terrorists. It would be refreshing if for once Mr. Clancy wrote a novel that did not lead to an obvious conclusion and if he dialed down his criticism of the political arena. I just want to read a good novel from a fantastic writer, without his rhetoric and a little bit more rooted in reality.

Pretty good Clancy novel, although somewhat predictable.

Predictable and moderately entertaining
This is a very well narrated audiobook that has a predictable Clancy plot line and the usual tough guy action. To Clancy's credit, the descriptive narrative of some of the action is very good, particularly the opening scene with the Rangers exploring a cave. Although it is a reasonably well-crafted story, it is not imaginative and lacks unique plot details or interesting characters. The pace is OK, although the writing does not build tension effectively and the story is kind of flat, but It does entertain and is worth a listen if you are a Clancy fan.

Clancy plot but NOT Clancy prose
Am reading "paperback" (large & thick owing to large text with double para spacing) edition of this novel. About a fourth into it and noticing in spades that while the characters are consistent, the writing style is not: short clipped sentences, limited vocabulary, etc. Aiming for those at barely the 7th grade (being a bit generous here) reading level? This is not the standard of writing I've come to expect from Clancy but is probably the style of the co-author whose name is shown in very small print on the title page. While I understand that this is common practice: a well known author helps an up and coming author get their own name recognition, it still incumbent on the big name author to ensure what is produced meets the same standards as his own books. By and large this usually works but sadly not in this case. (why I gave up on Splinter Cell a while ago). Sad to say, because I like the Ryan character (perhaps not the ultraconservative political views) I'll continue reading the series but not as happily as in the past.

Clancy lovers beware, the narrative and writing style of the co-author is mind numbingly cumbersome. His style almost ruins a good plot.

Great book...

Dead or Alive by Tom Clancy

Well told and entertaining
Typical tale that one would expect from Clancey. Exciting and detailed oriented. Well worth the read.

Something Borrowed
I barely ever get around to reading, but this book I made time to read. The movie doesn't compare.
